Fine Gold Recovery Bowl Jr.

I’ve re-engineered the fine Gold Recovery Bowl to make it better suited for non-commercial gold miners.

This six-inch bowl features a faster extraction time for most fine/flour gold concentrates. It’s also highly portable making it convenient to use for smaller batches. It is certainly capable of processing large quantities of black sand/gold concentrates but with a smaller quantity in the bowl at one time. I use this feature to target different gold locations for greatest density of gold flakes.

When I’m working in new area I will take part of a sluice box cleanup (fine gold section) and put it into a Ziploc bag. I will mark the location and keep the bag to one side. Then when I’m using the gold bowl to refine my concentrates. I will check the total average of gold from that area. This is how I constantly find good gold rich areas.

Some common themes for gold concentrations are:

•             (This first tip is like finding the mother lode, when you find untouched locations)such as bedrock lined canyons where the water really flows during the spring melt or during heavy rains. When the water level is low check just behind sharp bends or side eddies in the bedrock sides. What you will find is little pockets of coarse sand and gravel packed into the small spots. Carefully dig out these locations and save the material. I usually quick pan this material just get rid of the lighter surface rocks. Most of the concentrates from these areas are rich in 1/8 inch minus gold. The finer gold material is at the back of the recess, typically sitting on the angle bedrock sidewall.

•             When a stream or River suddenly widens and has gravel bars on one or both sides I call this area mother nature’s piggy bank. You probably will have to pre-classify the coarser material but these banks are a wealth of fine gold. Generally the larger gold is pull down the center of the River versus landing in the side gravel areas but if there’s flood areas there could be larger nuggets in the gravel as well. Dig under the larger gravel rocks and follow them back into the bank. These larger rocks mark the trail the gold will follow as well.

•             Submerged sandbars. These form because of the different water flow speeds from spring to low water in early fall. Where they occur is dependent on the flow pattern of the River or stream but being that the bulk of their life is spent in flowing water and they are usually found near the middle of a waterway, they are rich in fine gold throughout their depth. Advice here is to simply dig into these bars and sluice the material using a 1/8 inch minus classifier. Final refinement of concentrate should be done with the Gold Recovery Bowl (of course).

Cautions: if a flash flood happens while you’re out or on one of these sandbars it’s not going to be fun! This is how I learned that he sluice box can actually float for about 10 feet when being carried by a heavy current in the middle of a River. Other mining gear... Not so much.

Fine Gold Bowl advantages:

•             A more focused bowl area concentrates the water flow means a faster, more efficient gold recovery.

•             Compact design equals a highly portable yet light weight bowl.

•             Is oops proof because all your concentrates are captured in a 5 gallon bucket-no loss gold.

•             Allows you to grade your gold with simple water flow adjustment.

•             It’s fast!

•             Save money on refining costs.

•             Comes prebuilt. No gluing or cutting. Screw a couple of fittings together and you’re done!

•             Free to use. It takes no energy to separate gold from black sand concentrates

•             Works by gravity and water flow separation.

•             You can make money by refining other miners gold-business opportunity.

•             No chemicals or mercury necessary.

•             Will separate gold and heavier gem stones from lighter waste rock.

•             And it’s fun to watch your gold appear as if by magic in the bottom of your bowl.

The Fine Gold Recovery Bowl Jr. comes complete with all pieces needed to connect to a garden hose or to a recirculating pump.

•             Assembled bowl with precision separation cone assembly.

•             Lower connection’s feed tube.

•             Garden hose adapter.

All you need to supply is a 5 gallon plastic bucket with a lid. The bowl sits on the 5 gallon bucket during the refinement process so all materials are caught inside the bucket.

•             Designed to last for decades.
•             Capable of separating thousands of pounds of concentrates.

Watch the gold band appear as you refine your concentrates – extremely cool!
